- Diploma in Law and weekend Degree Programmes of Imo State University are Diploma and Degree Programmes, which are not in anyway different from what the full-time students are obtaining, but are specially designed to take care of the professional, occupational, personal, further education, and other developmental needs or interest of individuals and organizations.
The programmes through the provisions of carefully thought out, well structured and executed instructional programmes are expected to:
- Produce bankers, journalists, politicians, intending lawyers, seasoned administrators, managers, paramedical personnel, educators, philosophers, kings and other graduates with sound academic, moral, professional training, who will in turn transfer same training, creatively, effectively, and efficiently to our younger ones.
- Give every prospective non-residential student the opportunity to continue to take to or change to any discipline of his/her  interest, improve and employ his/her expertise in his/her work areas, and further contribute to the manpower requirements or needs of the local, private, state and federal governments.
- Provide in-service training opportunities, re-tooling for the generality of workers both in the public and private sectors of the economy, and a good or sufficient sectors of the economy, sufficient background knowledge with which the workers would further their studies to obtain higher degrees in their chosen fields of study.
- Produce in this modern Nigerian society and from any part of the country, no matter the sex, or religion, workers or people who are disciplined, devoted, committed and motivated by the natural love for the their professions.
