Applying for Admission Into American University of Nigeria

Steps for Admission Into American University of Nigeria

There are 4 steps towards applying to the undergraduate program at the American University of Nigeria.

Step One
The student completes an application, attaches the required documents and materials (see below), and sends the application to the Admissions Office. Students are encouraged to apply on-line and to email scanned documents. Students may mail the application, documents, and materials to:

Step Two
The Admissions Department notifies the student by e-mail and/or text message of the application receipt. The Admissions Department also informs the student of any missing documents.

NOTE: The acceptance process does not proceed until all required documents are submitted and included in the student's file.


Step Three
The Admissions Department notifies the student in writing of acceptance or non- acceptance to the University. If the student is accepted, the acceptance letter provides a list of activities that the student needs to complete in order to gain a slot at the University.
Step Four
The student makes a dormitory room payment by the stipulated date to hold a space at the University.

Students are encouraged to submit their applications on-line or electronically to  admissions@aun.edu.ng .
Required Documents
  1. Completed Application Form - Application for Admission (click to download)
  2. Most recent JAMB scores (190 points minimum), National Diploma/International Baccalaureate.
  3. End of school leaving exam scores (IGCSE, WASSCE, NECO, SSCE, GCE, Cambridge 'O' Level). Minimum of 5 credits among which are English Language and Mathematics.
  4. SS1-SS3 secondary school transcripts as well as transcripts for any post-secondary work that has been undertaken or last three years of high school work.
  5. One or more recommendation letters from the Counselor, or Principal of the applicant’s secondary school or from a teacher who is able to comment on the applicant's potential for post-secondary academic work. The recommendation letter should not be written by a family member. School’s stamp or seal is required on this letter.
  6. Photocopy of International Passport, National Identity Card, or secondary school ID.
  7. A personal statement (Essay) stating why the applicant chose AUN and what their dreams and ambitions are for the future.
  8. Non-refundable payment of 5,000 Naira processing fee deposited into the account of the American University of Nigeria at any branch of Guaranty Trust Bank (Account Number: 361 342 357 110) The applicant’s name must appear on the bank payment teller.
Students who have completed their secondary school education for which English was not the language of instruction are required to submit acceptable TOEFL scores.
